Pros of buying a 9800-18 Supplied Air Respirator (SAR):1. Enhanced Protection: The SAR provides a continuous supply of filtered air, protecting the user from harmful dust, fumes, gases, and vapors.
2. Improved Comfort: Compared to disposable respirators, SARs are more comfortable as they do not require the user to breathe in their own exhaled air.
3. Increased Efficiency: SARs are more efficient in filtering out airborne contaminants, ensuring the user inhales cleaner air.
4. Long-term Cost-effectiveness: Although the initial investment may be higher, the cost of repeatedly buying disposable respirators can add up over time. SARs are a more cost-effective solution in the long run.
Cons of buying a 9800-18 Supplied Air Respirator:1. Initial Cost: The 9800-18 SAR is a significant investment compared to disposable respirators.
2. Maintenance and Repair: SARs require regular maintenance and potential repairs, which can add to the overall cost.
3. Complexity: SARs are more complex to use and maintain than disposable respirators, requiring additional training and resources.
Conclusion:The 9800-18 Supplied Air Respirator is an excellent investment for individuals or businesses requiring enhanced protection against airborne hazards. While it comes with a higher initial cost, it offers improved comfort, efficiency, and long-term cost-effectiveness. However, it is essential to consider the potential maintenance and repair costs, as well as the complexity involved in using and maintaining the SAR.
Recommendation:If the benefits of the 9800-18 Supplied Air Respirator align with your specific needs, it is a worthwhile investment. Consider factoring in the potential maintenance and repair costs, and ensure you have the necessary resources to train and maintain the SAR effectively. For those with more limited budgets or less frequent exposure to hazardous environments, disposable respirators may be a more suitable option.
Being the good, health minded employer that I am, bought two of these systems.
This unit was purchased probably 15 years ago and rarely used.
This one, is a one person unit, and was designated for use inside our paint booth. This is not a lightweight unit, the motor and pump portion alone weigh in at around 52 pounds.
The motor is 3/4 hp and made by Emerson electric don't get confused others that I have seen on-line are only 1 or 2 horsepower. Buyer pays the actual shipping cost. Long story short.
The pressure gauge is by Ashcroft.
